Truce 1914 is a narrative song depicting a trench soldier and his perspective of the historical event that unexpectedly had fighting troops lay down their arms and observe Christmas Eve together.
Craig’s interpretation of what this must have been like is deeply psychological and haunting. The deep melodramatic sound pallet and rich melancholy melody sounds old and familiar. Shell-shocked and fatigued, the narrator whispers and sings his experience with incredible imagery.
